Dental issues are a common occurrence. Having a toothache can be incredibly uncomfortable, so it’s important to find out where the pain is coming from. While many cases can be treated with medication or dental procedures, some can also be cured by using home remedies. Before seeking dental treatment, there are different natural methods to try and stop the aches by yourself.

Below are a few ways you can treat minor dental problems at home.

Saltwater rinses are particularly effective. This works as a disinfectant and helps to wash away any debris or food which may be caught in the teeth. You can try this at home by mixing half of a teaspoon of salt into a cup of warm water. This can be washed around your mouth and gargled with to help to heal and clean any cuts in the mouth and reduce inflammation.

Using a cold compress can reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling by making blood vessels compress. Place a bag of ice in a towel and hold it on the face, near the problematic area for up to 20 minutes at a time. This treatment can be incredibly effective, with the option to repeat it every three hours if needed.

Hydrogen peroxide can be used to rinse the affected area, reducing inflammation and pain while killing bacteria. This treatment can be particularly effective when treating bleeding gums. Three percent hydrogen peroxide should be used to mix in equal parts with water. Be careful not to swallow the mixture.

Baking soda is another affordable and antibacterial home remedy, treating any abscesses while also removing plaque. Mix half a tablespoon of baking soda with a pinch of salt and half a cup of water, washing it around your mouth for up to five minutes at a time. This can be done twice every day.

These effective home remedies can quickly solve minor dental problems. However, if symptoms persist after a few days, then it can be worth visiting a dentist.
